Research on Different Types of Music Videos

Performance 

Performance music video is where you see a band or an artist performing in a casual environment like for example socializing with friends or performing live in front of an audience or without. The artist or band are normally shown all through out the video and are normally miming the words to the song. This type of music video is normally associated with indie and rock. This type of music video does not cost that much to make and this and show the audience the most realistic image of the band.

This is a perfect example of a performance music video by Beyonce-I was Here. This is good music video if you are a band or artist which is quite new to the industry because then people can see who is actually making the music and making the songs in which the audience love. Also its a good way in which the band or singer could show there fans for there dedication and show that their fans actually mean something to them. 

Narrative  

This is where the music video tells a story in which has a narrative so it can get a point across to the viewer or it can link in with the lyrics and could make a story out of the lyrics. Narrative relies on imagery to help put the story across and also can feature clips from a movie in which the song is featured in. This is mostly used in slower songs and normally tells a love story.

This an example of a narrative by Ellie Goulding-Love me like you do because it tells a love story and uses clips from the movie in which it is starred in which is called Fifty Shades of Grey. 

Concept

This is where a music video has a concept that is unusual or obscure or even surreal for the audience, this can draw in a lot of viewers because it draws them in. A successful concept video will keep the audience entertained and constantly looking at what or who is on the screen. There is a vary of different genre of music which use this type of music video because it is very entertaining and interesting.

This is a perfect example of a concept music video by Sia-Chandelier because it do not make any sense but as an audience we want to watch it because it interesting because the little girl is a really good dancer and its a weird type of dancing.
